Introduction

After a year in developing Adventures4Charity.com, I thought what better way to expand my own horizons by raising money for a charity which is near and dear to my heart. Two years ago, I was training to compete in a full Ironman Triathlon; on April 17th, 2008 I was rushed to the hospital via Lifeflight Helicopter where I had emergency Angioplasty done after suffering a massive coronary heart attack.

Going through what I experienced was a real eye opener in regards to all the life saving techniques and technology available to sustain life. After my release from the hospital, I became an emphatic student of stacking the proverbial deck in my favor in an effort to prevent this from happening in my lifetime again.

On June 5th, I am embarking upon a path as I have signed up to compete in another 1/2 Ironman Triathlon; yet this time, I am choosing to do it for a great cause. I am committing to raise over $2,997.00 for the American Heart Association, as they are committed to Building healthier lives free of Cardiovascular Disease! Thank you for being there when I needed you AHA!

About My Charity

The American Heart Association is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is: "Building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke."

The association's impact goal is to reduce coronary heart disease, stroke and risk by 25 percent by 2010. Progress toward the goal will be measured according to these indicators:

Created my Fundraising Page! - 04/08/2010

Well, what better time than to just do it now! I signed up for and committed to raise over $1000.00 for the American Heart Association. I have two months to get out there and ask people to donate to my fundraising account! Wish me luck!

My First Donation - 04/09/2010

Wow, I was so totally stoked to see Rosa Alva donating to my very first fundraising campaign. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous asking people to donate; yet, I know it is for a worthy cause! This way I am fully able to immerse myself in all levels of Adventures4Charity. Thank you so much Rosa, you gave me the confidence I needed to kick start my campaign!

About to go direct for fundraising - 04/22/2010

I remember one thing that Team in Training does suggest to all there fundraisers, and that is ask, ask, ask. My plan this upcoming week to email family and friends directly in an effort to raise money for my cause. I will continue with posting on FB; yet, need to take things in a different direction.

Keeping the Faith - 04/25/2010

It is so nice to have such good friends! As I mentioned earlier, I was very tentative in raising money, for I have never done anything like it in the past. A big thank you to both Debbi and Lysa for believing in me and Adventures4Charity. Thank you so much ladies!

A big shout out to my friends - 04/26/2010

I took another courageous step in my fundraising campaign, as I reached out directly to my contact list and emailed quite a few people. I was very pleased that some of my friends responded and donated to my account. I set a goal of $997.00 which was a stretch goal; yet, I really feel that I just may surpass that goal, and then some!

What an experience - 04/30/2010

I originally set a goal of raising $997.00 for the American Heart Association on the thoughts that people would donate $5.00-$25.00 each. Well, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw how much support that everyone has been generously donating! It made me realize how fortunate I am to have such good friends who really care! I have learned that Givers Gain, and there is not better proof than what is occurring through my fundraising process!
